Stainless Steel 305 is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy that boasts a higher nickel content than Type 304, which greatly enhances its deep drawing and cold working abilities. Typically, it contains 17–19% Chromium and 10.5–13% Nickel, along with a low carbon content of up to 0.12%. This alloy provides a tensile strength of about 485–620 MPa, a yield strength of around 170–205 MPa, and an elongation of roughly 40%. These impressive mechanical properties, combined with excellent ductility, make Stainless Steel 305 particularly well-suited for demanding forming applications where other stainless steels might crack or fail during fabrication.
